Africa Retail Forum-2022
ARF-2022
Introduction
The retail landscape of Africa is facing an inevitable change with the booming population, emerging technologies and expeditiously developing economies. Africa holds the fastest rate of urbanization in today’s world and these are some of the many factors that shape the future of the African retail forum. With the rise of Millenials and middle-class people, the eagerness and awareness to consume new products have also resurfaced. Brand recognition has become an integral part of African consumers and it has maximized the chances of international brands to capitalize.
The African Retail Forum is coming to the heart of Africa with 5000+ seats and 100+ speakers. With valuable insights and fire in our eyes, we are coming to the diversely rich cultural extravaganza. With easy access to multiple airlines to excellent internet service and telecommunications, we are setting foot to explore numerous exemplary industrial opportunities.

ADVANTAGE RWANDA
With all the responsibilities on your shoulders, you must be wondering why you should sacrifice your social life for an event. Well, here are some intriguing advantages that can keep you hooked.
Long-term investments.
B2B business meetings with any government officials of the African continent to unleash all business barriers.
No third-party involvement giving rise to attractive prices of commodities.
Lucrative incentives and trade facilitation to be offered by the Rwanda Development Board and other relevant ministries of the trade industry.
Rwandan entrepreneurs will have the luxury of doing business with any of their counterparts all across the African continent.
SUSTAINED ECONOMIC GROWTH
Strong average year-on-year GDP growth albeit from a low base, relatively low inflation, low (but growing) debt-to-GDP ratio.
ACCESS TO MARKETS
Rwanda’s market of 12.3 million people has a growing middle class, and the EAC offers a customs union with a market potential of 177 million consumers. Close access to the eastern DRC market of approximately 35 million people.
EASY TO START A BUSINESS
Top global consistent reformer since 2008 and second easiest place to do business in sub-Saharan Africa (World Bank Doing Business Report). Investors can register a business online or in person in as little as six hours through the Rwanda Development Board.
UNTAPPED INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Potential opportunities for investment are particularly attractive in the following sectors: infrastructure, energy, agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, information and communication technology, mining, financial services, real estate, and construction.
LOW CORRUPTION
One of Africa’s four least corrupt nations and 51st in the world in the Transparency International’s 2019 Corruption Perception Index.
ARF MISSION
THE MISSION OF AFRICA RETAIL FORUM (ARF)
is to be retail motivation connecting businesses, people, knowledge and ideas for the profitable growth of modern retail.

AGENDA
DRIVING THE WORLD'S FASTEST GROWING MAJOR MARKET
Emerging technologies, a booming population and rapidly developing economies are changing the retail landscape of Africa. These are the facts and trends shaping the future of African retail...
DEMOGRAPHICS AND URBANIZATION
Africa has the fastest rate of urbanization in the world. More than 40% of its population is currently living in urban centers. Moreover, Africa is on track to become the continent with the world’s youngest population. Approximately 70% of Africans are presently under the age of 30. Youth account for around 20% of the population. This is an age group known for their awareness of and eagerness to consume new products.
THE RISE OF RETAIL
A growing population and larger cities translate into big opportunities for retail. For instance, wholesale and retail are already the 3rd largest contributor to Nigeria’s GDP. Kenya has seen a 54% growth in its number of stores over the last 5 years. South Africa has almost 2,000 shopping malls covering over 24 million square meters. With a surge of investment in technology and infrastructure, Johannesburg is poised to become “Africa’s hippest city.” The newly revitalized neighborhood of Maboneng boasts trendy restaurants, luxury hotels, and galleries.
THE RISE OF BRANDS
The emerging middle-class consumer is increasingly brand conscious.
As retail moves from informal to formal big companies are expanding their reach across the continent.
While Africans tend to be loyal to local brands, this tendency is not as entrenched as it is in China and India whose retail sector is saturated by well-known local brands. Brand recognition is highly important to African consumers who often call products by an associated brand name. This gives international brands an opportunity to capitalize.
